The Bechdel test, or Bechdel-Wallace test, aims to show the over-representation of male protagonists or the under-representation of female characters in a work of fiction. If the work meets the following three criteria, the test is said to have been passed:
- Are there at least two women?
- Are they talking to each other?
- Are they talking about something other than a man?
