EUROPEAN AUDIOVISUAL OBSERVATORY – Female Directors in European Cinema


This report aims at helping to measure the gender divide existing among film directors in Europe. The first section provides a general overview of the gender of directors of European films produced between 2003 and 2017. The second part focuses on the volume and the share of European films by gender of directors, including information on film genres and admissions.
